“G” litter folks, the adventure begins…girl, boy, girl to start things out.

Raika had her “trim” today. What that means is she looks like hell. I took off all of her belly hair and most of her pants. I didn’t even really try to make her look sylish, since mommy dogs always lose all of their hair anyway after they have puppies. But…will make whelping much easier and cleaner.

The past few nights have been rough; last night was better. She’s very uncomfortable now; she’s losing her appetite, so getting small meals. Her temperature is starting to drop; only 99.9 degrees this morning. For those that don’t know, dropping temperature takes place in the week before whelping. Normally there is a dramatic dip in temperature 12 to 24 hours before the first puppy arrives, so that is what I”m watching for. Mostly I’m trying to help her avoid the tummy troubles that seem to be plaguing her.Last night I kepy my hand on her belly and felt the puppies wiggling around. Lots of wiggling:)
